Charge a shipping rate

Add shipping methods and add-ons

Outcome: Offer one delivery method plus optional add-ons, including quote-after-order shipping when needed.

Choose shipping methods and add-ons

Open the form builder's Products block, then find Shipping Options in its properties. Add each row as one of these types:

  • Shipping method: the buyer can choose at most one method, such as Standard or Express.
  • Add-on: optional or required extras such as signature service, insurance, cold packing, or handling can stack with the chosen method.

Each row can have a name, description, price, image, visibility, and sort position. Reorder the rows to control buyer presentation. Hiding a row preserves its settings but prevents new checkout selections.

Configure required and quantity behavior

The block can require a shipping method when one or more methods are available. If it is required, checkout cannot continue without one valid method.

For an add-on, choose whether it is optional or required and whether the buyer can select more than one unit. Multiple quantity starts at one and can be capped from 1 through 99; a new multi-quantity add-on defaults to a maximum of 10. The shown line total is the unit price multiplied by quantity.

Auto-select makes an add-on required and starts it selected. A required add-on that is not auto-selected still asks the buyer to select it. A required, auto-selected add-on stays selected at its minimum quantity.

Checkout sends option IDs and quantities, but the server reloads the current form settings. It rejects hidden or unknown rows, more than one method, missing required rows, invalid quantities, and prices from an older browser tab. Current saved prices determine the order total.

Quote shipping after the order

Turn on Quote after order for a shipping method when the amount cannot be known at checkout. This is available for shipping methods, not add-ons. Its checkout shipping line is saved at 0, and its price field stays unavailable in the builder.

Review the destination and package after the order arrives, then send a balance request for the actual shipping charge. Quote-after-order orders are not eligible for the built-in batch-label workflow because no checkout shipping amount or service was finalized.

Configure form-wide free shipping

Free shipping can activate when the qualifying merchandise subtotal reaches the form threshold. The threshold is evaluated before coupons, shipping, payment surcharges, and add-ons.

Choose the one configured shipping method that becomes free. When the order qualifies and no method is selected, EZFormz selects that method. The offer does not make add-ons free and does not apply to a quote-after-order method.

Choose whether buyers can still select a paid upgrade. If paid upgrades are disabled, checkout rejects a different paid method while the free-shipping offer is active. If the order later falls below the threshold, the selected method returns to its saved price.

Separate checkout prices from postage

Shipping-option prices are what the buyer is charged. A carrier label rate is what your EasyPost or Shippo account pays for postage; the two amounts are not automatically the same. Review both before fulfillment. Built-in label purchases record their postage and supported insurance costs for P&L reporting.

For carrier credentials, package presets, live rates, and labels, continue to Buy labels with EasyPost or Shippo. For spreadsheet fulfillment, use Export orders to Pirate Ship.
